Black and White Images

Black and White images produce drama and impact. For instance, the Bow of the boat was part of a larger image, which, was too busy and had no real focal point or interest. To get to the finished article I cropped the bow section and converted it to black and white and brought the grain of the hull out to enhance the V which makes the subject more interesting. The Box Of Chains was part of the original shot and again I separated it to produce an image of interest with a little work on the colour cast in Lightroom.

Take A Bow. Part of a larger image which proved to be rather uninteresting. I cropped the bow out of the main image, converted to black and white and enhanced the grain to make a more interesting image.

The Blue Knot.

Disorder.

The Ramps. The interesting element of this image is the relationship between the curves and the shadows, coupled with the grain of the ramp surface. The dramatic sky was created by a 1 second exposure during a windy day.

The Water Tower. A windy day using a 20 second exposure created the blured sky. I used a polarizing filter to enhance the darkened sky. This increased the contrast between the light concrete walls and the background.

Box of Chains. This was part of the original shot taken with the boat. I seperated it and used it as a point of interest.
